Then…
Jansons Associates was founded by Monty Sumanis and Olgerts Jansons in March 1958. Recently arrived Latvian immigrants, Monty and Olgerts were able to tap into the post-war residential housing boom and make their mark on the changing landscape. They quickly expanded the business beyond residential work to include commercial projects and became pioneers in the building industry by promoting prefabricated chimney systems during a time when brick and mortar or steel were industry standards. Jansons was instrumental in persuading the New York Buildings Department to adopt a revised building code and approval process, which allowed for the development of new techniques and materials. In 1979, Jansons entered the record books when we built the tallest chimney and fireplace in the world, a project for a client’s office located on the then 105th floor of the World Trade Center’s South Tower. This client continues to be a loyal customer and friend of Jansons Associates for the past thirty years.
And Now…
For over a half-century, Jansons Associates has been a pioneer in the Chimney construction industry. Company President, Robert Sumanis has expanded on the foundation built by his father Monty. Today, Jansons Associates is a multi-disciplinary specialty contractor working not only on chimneys, but with the vast assortment of accessories that accompany them. We design and construct an extensive variety of chimney systems for both commercial and residential buildings throughout the New York metropolitan area. Our expertise extends to every type of chimney, with a special focus on refractory and stainless steel designs servicing boilers, hot water heaters, turbines, emergency generators, incinerators, kilns and fireplaces. Testimonial 1 – Sabey Construction Inc.
Sabey Construction Incorporated and Jansons Associates have enjoyed a business relationship for several years at our Intergate Manhattan Project. We met with Jansons Associates’ Robert Sumanis to discuss the reconditioning of our existing flues in a 32 story building, with a short schedule requiring multiple shifts seven days a week.
What we appreciate most about working with Robert Sumanis and his team at Jansons is their expertise in design, construction of chimneys, generator exhaust systems and their ability to recommend solutions for this challenging project. Their craftsmen are skilled and professional, and accomplished a very technical retrofit in a very difficult environment. It was very refreshing working with such an honest and trustworthy company.
Testimonial 2 – Gilbane
Jansons Associates worked for Gilbane on the Rapid Repairs Program in the Rockaways after Superstorm Sandy. Their team was honest, disciplined, professional and proficient. Their work was of the highest quality. Despite harsh conditions, grueling hours, ever-changing rules, and an impossible schedule, they persevered. Jansons’ hard work helped us to return 3500 families safely to their homes.
Thank you for a job well done!
